The Curriculum for Life and World Transformation

The Radical Honesty workshops were created by Dr. Brad Blanton, Ph.D.. The course curriculum for life and world transformation follows a natural pattern of progression and training. The three-day workshop teaches you to rely on noticing, rather than thinking, as the basis for getting grounded in your experience and creating real intimacy. The Curse in Honesty training provides for you the experience and the tools to go out into the world and sustain ongoing transformation. It also includes training in how to utilize your mind in a new capacity, by designing your life consciously from your vision. The Trainer's Training gives you concrete experience in actively coaching others, and developing more distinctions as a noticer, while consciously creating your life.

Our yearly workshops and events consist of: Three workshops, Levels One, Two and Three, One Trainers Training and One Annual Radical Honesty Festival and Reunion. The descriptions of these workshops and events follows here.

Radical Honesty 3 Day Workshop: Level 1, "The Curse in Honesty"

In this workshop, you will learn how honesty leads to greater intimacy and discover how to speak and listen honestly. You will have the opportunity to free yourself from the assumptions, illusions, beliefs and expectations that cause stress and suffering. You will develop the ability to interrupt your mind and eliminate stumbling blocks to happiness and satisfaction. You will experience the freedom that comes from telling the truth and have techniques that give you a great starting place to practice in your life.

You will witness and/or participate in hot seat work, gain an understanding and appreciation for the "experienced experience" versus the non-experienced experience, and practice all these techniques in experiential exercises.

On Monday evening, you can bring your friends & family, and anyone else with whom you would like to have a more honest relationship. Guests will be invited to participate in our closing session, see what you have learned and have a taste of the fun and freedom you have experienced, and begin a new relationship to you based openness and sharing honestly.

Radical Honesty 3 Day Workshop: Level 2, "Nekkid Truth!"

In case you didn't get it the first time, this is Level Two in the 3 (Count 'em! Three!) Workshop series.

If you suckered for the first one, you will still not be prepared for this one. During the course of this workshop you have to stand up naked in front of a group of people who are also naked, and talk about what you like and what you don't like about your body. And you get videotaped doing this and then you get to watch yourself on a big screen doing this in a room full of people also watching the replay later on in the workshop. Opportunities for embarrassment are almost infinite.

But that's not the worst part, believe it or not. After you talk about what you are ashamed of and proud of about your poor body, you then have to summarize your sexual history-when you first discovered sex, first masturbated, first had sex, what it was like, how many partners you have had, what sex they were, what kind of kinky shit you like, whether you have done it with animals, vegetables or minerals, etc.

But even that is not the worst! You also have to get naked another way, by telling the story of your life. You have to tell your life story to a group of 4 people in a half an hour and have that videotaped. You get to keep that tape and show it to your family or spouse or mate or brothers and sisters to cause trouble in your life later. This course is about getting over being embarrassed in your life and about your life. It is about learning to love the innocent, child-like, noticing being you are, and to have that as your primary identity instead of identifying with your pathetic performance based, shame based, victim or victor personality. This is a rough God damned course but when you finish it you are over yourself in some very important ways.

A 3 Day, One Evening Workshop. The third and FINAL level of the three workshop series.

A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT (of the developmentally and emotionally damaged-people just like yourself) HELP ON YOUR PATHWAY TO THE FUTURE!

Well, there you have it. This is where you arrive. You not only learn how you can be centered in yourself (self centered), think independently (ignore civilization), and be happier (even when you are not drunk or stoned or high on something), be in love (frequently temporarily deluuuuuded) but you also get to have all these dysfunctional people you have met in the course of going sane help you design your future! This workshop is harder than you think. You may not even want to do it. If you think you do, read Practicing Radical Honesty: How to etc., and if that doesn't talk you out of it, go ahead on and sign up. This workshop is based on what is talked about the last 100 pages or so of that book and takes some real planning and co-creating work on your part (homework too!)

No one has every come through this without it having a profound impact (fuck up) their life. So be four warned. Done once a year at Sparrowhawk Farm in Virginia. In 2008 it is on November 21-23. Plan on being more or less permanently in charge of, and taking responsibility for, fucking up your own life (enlightened) after that. Heh heh. There is a party on Monday night of this workshop, where your performance will be judged by people who are in love with you, and there is further instruction on how to remain enlightened while drunk or high.

The Radical Honesty Trainer's Training

7 DAYS OF INSTRUCTION ABOUT HOW TO RUN
THE NEW THREE LEVEL CURSE IN HONESTY WORKSHOPS

We need people to be trained in running these three workshops. Once you are certified to run these groups we will pay you 1/3 of the money from the workshops after expenses and 1/2 of the money from the weekly follow up groups. This is free for already certified trainers and costs a thousand dollars for trainer wannabes. The training is conducted by Brad Blanton and several Radical Honesty trainers. The focus is on how to conduct Gestalt therapy hot seat work, all the modules of the three, three day workshops and the entire Radical Honesty curriculum as laid out in Practicing Radical Honesty: How to Complete the Past, Live in the Present and Build a Future with a Little Help from Your Friends. Participation in a previous 8 Day Workshop, or at least two of the three levels listed below, and an invitation from a Radical Honesty trainer is a prerequisite for attending the trainer's training.

Radical Honesty is about two things: (1) personal growth to the point of liberation from the mind and (2) social change. Personally forgiving others and yourself for the sake of living free and perpetuating honesty for the sake of peace rather than violence - which means not suppressing anger, sexuality, joyfulness or grief - precedes and necessitates activism for social change.

We coach people to live into their emotional experiences and to share what they learn with others. By sharing honestly about how life is for us, we learn to forgive, be compassionate and contribute our wisdom and attainment of presence to benefit others. We make agreements with each other to keep each other straight (which is to re-rescue each other from domination by our minds and culture of belief and ignorance). As we pass this renewal of freedom forward to others, and back and forth to each other, at some point we must come in conflict with the economic and social forces that are powerful and aligned against us and vested in stopping us for the sake of their continued domination of us. This is inevitable.

Therefore it follows that the second part of our work is to bring about social change. My colleague and mentor Derrick Jensen has been asking people this question for a while: "Do you believe that our culture will undergo a voluntary transformation to a sane and sustainable way of living?" He says,

"For the last several years I've taken to asking people this question, at talks and rallies, in libraries, on buses, in airplanes, at the grocery store, the hardware store. Everywhere. The answers range from emphatic nos to laughter. No one answers in the affirmative. One fellow at one talk did raise his hand, and when everyone looked at him, he dropped his hand, then said, sheepishly, "Oh, voluntary? No, of course not." My next question: how will this understanding - that this culture will not voluntarily stop destroying the natural world, eliminating indigenous cultures, exploiting the poor, and killing those who resist - shift our strategy and tactics? The answer? Nobody knows, because we never talk about it: we're too busy pretending the culture will undergo a magical transformation."

We do believe in one kind of magic only, which is the magic of speaking and listening. We have workshops and books and blogs and a newsletter. They are all about personal and social liberation from the jail of civilization and civilized thinking. They are about psychological growth to present tense living and compassion for self and others manifest in social action.

We will cease pretending that the culture of money as it is now constituted will change voluntarily. We will still pretend though. We don't want to pretend anything except what might be possible in a future for humankind. Commonly agreed upon visions are a good use of the human inclination toward pretense ( pre-tense - they precede an expected present tense). The Radical Honesty Festival and Reunion

3 DAYS OF CELEBRATION AND REUNION

The primary purpose of this for all of us to catch up with what we are doing in the world and to celebrate each other's lives.

And we also want to have a couple of World Cafe discussions to develop the Radical Honesty strategy for social change. (Google World Cafe or buy the book from the Radical Honesty Book store or Tom Atlee's book The Tao of Democracy). Among all the music, dancing and celebration will be the celebration of open honest conversation for personal growth and social change.

The focus questions for this incredibly productive co-creative, co-intelligent conversational co-creation system, spread out over three days and documented in writing and video, will be:

(1) Assuming that this culture will not voluntarily stop destroying the natural world, eliminating indigenous cultures, exploiting the poor, and killing those who resist - shift our strategy and tactics with regard to both personal growth and social action?

(2) How could we change a government of Empire based on masculine domination and the rule of the wealthy to a government of earth community, more gender balanced and focused on cooperation and caring for everyone? What could we do to bring about Philadelphia II, (Mike Gravels proposal that 60 million Americans sign up to come to Philadelphia for a new Constitutional Convention), and how could we contribute our wisdom from spiritual and personal growth to make that effort successful and then to reformulate what government is and does?

We are living in very dangerous and exciting times. Here at this festival is where the conversation among friends who trust each other about consciousness and conscious participation in co-intelligent heartfelt co-creation happens.
