Psychologist Susan Campbell believes you are most lovable when you are most transparent, and you can only be as honest as you are self-aware. She has been leading workshops, training therapists, and doing private practice since 1967.

She currently trains coaches and therapists throughout the United States and Europe to integrate principles of Gestalt Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Buddhist Psychology, Psychodrama, Family Systems Therapy, and Neuroscience into their professional practices. She has also worked as a corporate team building specialist and relationship coach for 50 years. A certified Radical Honesty Trainer (since 2001) and former professor at the University of Massachusetts graduate school of counseling psychology, she is author of 10 books on relationships and communication.

Her most recent work centers on how to use honest, present-centered communication as vehicle for personal healing and expanded self-awareness—as described in her best-selling, book, Getting Real: 10 Truth Skills You Need To Live an Authentic Life (with a Foreword by Brad Blanton). Her more recent titles are, Truth in Dating: Finding Love by Getting RealSaying What’s Real: 7 Keys to Authentic Communication and Relationship Success; and Five-Minute Relationship Repair: Quickly Heal Upsets and Use Differences to Strengthen Love. She had also authored 3 educational cards games that help people integrate the 10 truth skills into their personal and business relationships (The Getting Real Card Game, The Truth in Dating Card Game, and Truth at Work).

Susan’s first Radical Honesty Workshop was a weekend in Seattle in 1998. At this workshop, she met Taber (also his first RH workshop), became friends with Brad, and fell in love with everyone connected with this movement. Since that time, she has attended several 8-day trainings (2 of which she co-led with Brad), a few trainer’s trainings, and many shorter workshops led by Brad or Taber.

Susan learned Gestalt Therapy from Fritz Perls (and other pioneers) in the 1960’s and is currently on the faculty of the Gestalt Institute of San Francisco. Her background in Gestalt also includes teaching Gestalt Therapy and hot seat work for 10 years at the University of Massachusetts Graduate School, from 1967-1977. She also founded that school’s couple and family therapy graduate program.

Susan has been leading Honesty Salons several evenings per month at her home since 1997. The Honesty Salon format is a “social meditation practice” where members share their in-the-moment experience in the interest of transparency using the 10 Getting Real truth skills. She lives in Sebastopol, CA.

Susan has over 20 videos of her work on her YouTube channel.

She writes a monthly newsletter/blog, offering useful tips and tools for coaches and clients. In it, she also announces the topic of her monthly free group coaching call, which happens every “first Tuesday” of the month, 4-5 pm Pacific US time. Subscribe to Susan’s newsletter here.
