Our 2022 Year-End Recap

What a year it has been at the Radical Honesty Institute!

We are feeling happy to announce that our organization has grown this year, with the addition of newly Certified Trainers & Trainer Candidates, and our workshop offerings are reaching further than ever before, both in-person and online. This year alone, we held over 100 live events in 18 countries worldwide!

Along with providing more tools for our Trainers to better lead workshops and retreats, we have also created more opportunities for people to attend our events.

And keep reading for a New Year's greeting from Dr. Brad Blanton!

If you haven't heard yet, the Radical Honesty Institute was created last year in 2021 by a group of active Certified Trainers to carry on the work and teachings of Dr. Brad Blanton. When Brad retired at age 80, he decided to sell his company (nee Radical Honesty Enterprises) to a group of Certified Trainers who've committed to growing our practice and framework around the world.

The Radical Honesty Institute's Board of Directors is made up of Certified Trainers Michael Alan Kolb, Tuulia Syvänen, Pete Jordan, Marvin Schulz, Anne Bryer, John Rosania, Selina Jung, Christoph Fink, Maggie Doyle, and Gudrun Graichen.

In addition to our formal Trainers' Trainings, many of our Trainers have been busy taking part in other related trainings. First, our Board members attended a two-day training with Scott Kellogg, PhD in his Transformational Chairwork methodology, an approach with roots in Gestalt-based hot seat work.

Second, sixteen of our Trainers enrolled in ARTIC (Anti-Racist Trauma Informed Care) training with Rebecca Davis and Shea Lower. This training is aimed to help white service providers gain skills and tools to provide anti-racist care to clients.

Lastly, ten of our Trainers and Trainer Candidates just completed the 4-month NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) Trauma Online Basics Training in order to become more trauma-informed in our work with clients and workshop participants.

The Radical Honesty Anti-Racism Group (RHARG) was formed and offers monthly community calls to provide a context for constructive discussions about race. They take place on the second Wednesday of each month at 12-1pm ET/NYC (18:00-19:00 CET). Calls are hosted by Trainer Candidate Firdoz Gangat with Trainer Michael Kolb, and they are open to the public. Join our next call on January 11th here.

The Radical Honesty BIPOC Scholarship Fund has been created to support members of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities access to our trainings in the context of historical and present day systemic inequities that disadvantage people of these communities. Learn more and donate to our BIPOC Scholarship Fund here.

And our Radical Honesty Financial Support Fund has been established to assist people to attend a Radical Honesty workshop or online course led by Radical Honesty Institute by offering financial support to those who otherwise could not attend. All donated funds will go directly toward workshop registration fees for applicants. Donate here!

A note from Dr. Brad Blanton

Dear Radical Honesty community, culture and cult. It is the end of another year and start of a new one in this mostly fictional place we live in together. I love you. Sarah has invited me to write briefly about my view of how, right now, we are doing in the world, and how the world is doing in us as we and the world learn from each other.

As we humans reveal more about ourselves to each other, others do more of that with and for others as well. We are taking over the world and the world is taking us over. Humanity is changing. Happy New Year may not just be a throwaway comment.

Many of us in this community of friends who care about each other, are learning how to care for other people better by widening and deepening our focus of attention on each other in ways of (1) learning how to love and (2) how to learn how to love over and over again. The world of humanity is incredibly inept at taking care of each other.

At the same time, people are coming toward us, obsessed with wanting the intimacy of honest speaking and listening, and greater connection.

Love comes and goes. Don’t fight it so hard. Let it happen. Let it go. Let it happen again.

We, all of humanity, are waking up to the fact that love comes and goes and comes and goes again. What we resist will persist because it is maintained by resistance. When you experience an experience it comes and goes. We tell you about that because we want you to tell people about that, as well.

love, Brad

P.S. Warmongers are in charge of the money. We have to fix that. Nobody knows how yet.

P.P.S. I just wrote a book about all that. It’s finished now. It took two and a half years. You can get it soon.

P.P.P.S. If we persist in not resisting, and experience our experience of resistance, it will come and go too.

A new video, "What is Radical Honesty?" was filmed this August at our Advanced Summer Retreat in Greece led by Marvin Schulz and Sebastian James. It beautifully illustrates what we do, how we work, and the transformation that occurs in a Radical Honesty workshop.

If you've never given yourself the opportunity to attend a Radical Honesty workshop, retreat, or 8-day, watch this video and then check in with your body to see if you feel inspired to come. Next year's Advanced Summer Retreat will be August 5-12 in Pelion, Greece!

🥳 Happy New Year—See you in 2023! 🎉
