Experimenting with honesty

“…The practice of being more honest, open, vulnerable, and genuinely expressive, not for moral reasons, not because you think you should, but so you can see how your life might transform if you begin to be more boldly and authentically yourself.”

Hello everyone, it’s Lindsay.

Once again I’m sitting in front of my computer thinking, “I need to write a newsletter to tell folks about my upcoming offerings… and I have no idea what to write about…”

It seems like most people who write newsletters or articles are motivated by the desire to share something they know and to offer opinions, advice, entertainment, or simply to provide information they think may benefit their readers.

I’m pretty sure that 95% of the time I’ve written newsletters for Radical Honesty, my motivation has been, most simply, the desire to share about the workshop or online series I’m offering, and the need to make money in order to pay for life. That’s what motivates me this time. It’s not that I’ve had an amazing epiphany and I’m inspired to write a beautiful piece about my amazing discovery about life and then sum up 5 easy ways that you can have a similarly amazing experience. And my motivation is not a desire to share a fun or funny story, or to attempt to teach you something that may have a positive impact on your life.

It’s simply that I want you to know about what I’m offering soon, in hopes that you’ll want to join in and that you’ll find value in it, and that I’ll make some money to pay for life. So it’s time to come up with something to write, a newsletter that’s a vehicle for the info regarding these upcoming offerings. I’ve got an in-person workshop planned, and an online series coming up, and I want you all to know about them so that some of you may feel inspired to sign up and join me.

This may not sound great… and it’s all true.

Have I inspired you yet? 🙄 😅

Hmmm, okay, probably not super inspiring…

What’s ALSO true is that I LOVE when people are genuinely interested in participating in the workshops and series I’m offering, I LOVE how I feel when people sign up and pay me money (gladly!), and I LOVE being with people in the workshops and calls I’m facilitating and talking with them about all of the topics we’re focused on. I actually feel honored and grateful to provide and share space with folks who feel compelled to jump in, open up, and reveal what’s happening for them.

And I think a good amount of the people who participate in all of these things are glad that they did because they benefit in some way and enjoy their time with the other folks in the groups.

They get to practice being open and honest in ways most of them aren’t used to and don’t tend to be in their everyday lives, and get to experiment with what might happen if they share more of themselves than usual and allow themselves to be more vulnerable, expressive, and real.

Will they die from embarrassment? Will they discover that others have similar thoughts? Will they find acceptance? Maybe experience some pushback, too, and learn that they can survive it? Will they be inspired to share something with an important person in their life that could have a major positive impact or rock their world in some other way?

We’ll see! It’s all an experiment!

All of the in-person workshops and online calls I offer are an opportunity to experiment with being more and more honest and to see what happens when we reveal more of our authentic selves to others.

Ah! I’ve discovered what this newsletter is about, now that I’m more than halfway through it! 😀

This newsletter is about EXPERIMENTING WITH HONESTY.

And the newsletter itself IS an experiment in honesty—I’m simply sharing what I’m thinking, unsure of how it will land with you, the reader, and feeling what I’m feeling while doing it.

And what I encourage in my coaching sessions and in the series and workshops I offer is experimentation in honesty.

The practice of being more honest, open, vulnerable, and genuinely expressive, not for moral reasons, not because you think you should, but so you can see how your life might transform if you begin to be more boldly and authentically yourself.

You might open up in new ways and then:

  • Get the raise at work or quit the job at which you’ve been underappreciated

  • Get a date with the person at the gym who’s been flirting with you for months

  • Have an outrageously fun and surprising holiday gathering with friends or family

  • Newly create the relationship of your dreams with your partner/spouse or finally break up with the person you’ve been feeling held back by

  • Be able to build closeness and connection with a parent or sibling that you were unable to connect with the way you wanted to as a child

  • … who knows what else?! You can begin to experiment and find out, if you’re ready for it!

So, it turns out that I’m here to say that if you’re ready for your life to potentially transform big time, and/or to start experiencing life in different ways because you’re open to showing up TO EXPERIMENT as a more authentic version of yourself, then you may enjoy and find value in participating in a Radical Honesty workshop or online series with me (or with another RH trainer that feels like a good match for you).

So, with all of that said, here’s what I’m offering soon that you may like to get in on:

Let’s Talk About Sex, a 4-session Radical Honesty online series on the topic of sex, desire, taboos, and shame. January 13th - February 10th, 2024.

Before the course, I had some levels of shame about sex, and my own sense of worthiness in having it. As the group progressed, I felt challenged by my own edges and blind spots, but I also felt a shift from fear and insecurity towards being more playful and loving. - past participant, David S.

EARLY BIRD ENDS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3rd!

Denver Weekend Workshop, The classic, in-person Radical Honesty Weekend Workshop, for those who want more than what you can get from online practice. February 2nd - 4th, 2024.

EARLY BIRD ENDS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3rd!

Radical Honesty for Lovers Online, a 13-week, 6-session online class for folks in any sort of romantic relationship who want to create more openness, authenticity, intimacy, and learn to deal with anger and other big emotions more productively. Coming early Spring 2024! REGISTER HERE TO HOLD YOUR SPOT.

Thanks for bearing with me and reading my experiment in honesty… hopefully you weren’t too turned off by me sharing that I want you to sign up for my offerings AND I want your money 😉

I truly do hope to have your presence and authentic participation at any of the above offerings. I already know that all the other participants and I will benefit from you being there and showing up as your whole self, whatever that may look like from moment to moment.

I look forward to seeing you online or in person!

Best wishes always,

Lindsay
